More House School – Sports Day 2025

On Friday 23rd May, the More House School field was alive with energy, colour, and sportsmanship as pupils from Years 4 - 10 came together to compete in our much-anticipated Sports Day 2025. With the incredible support of our Sixth Formers who helped facilitate the events, and staff stationed across the field to measure, time, officiate and cheer, it was a day in which every member of the school community played a part.

The starting pistol was fired and off went an exciting series of sprints and long-distance race. From 50m, 75m, 100m, and 200m sprints to the endurance-testing 800m, each event brought new personal bests and even a few school records. On the other side of the field, boys launched javelins, shot puts, and howlers, while others soared through the air in long jump and high jump, cheered on by their houses, families, friends, and dogs! The grand finale – our legendary house relay – was a showstopper. Every pupil from Year 7 upwards took their turn with the baton as they sprinted towards victory for their house. Everyone in attendance stood on the side-lines to cheer. It was loud. It was chaotic. It was great fun. Congratulations to Sturt House, who crossed the finish line first.

As is tradition, the soundtrack and commentary of the day came courtesy of Mr Faasen and the sound team. True to More House style, the day had its share of spontaneous joy – a surprise conga line danced its way across the grass, followed by an impromptu outbreak of YMCA. Our Beekeeping Club, dressed proudly in their bee suits, promoted and sold the first harvest of ‘Mmm… More Honey’ – which sold out completely in the first few hours! The More House catering team kept everyone going with a delicious BBQ, and the ever-popular sweets stall and ice cream van kept spirits (and sugar levels) high.

Huge congratulations go to Knight House, who were not only this half-term’s House Points Champions, but also emerged victorious on Sports Day. However, every boy deserves recognition for their individual achievements, record-breaking efforts, and, most importantly, for their sportsmanship and unwavering support for one another. After all, this is what sports day is all about.

We would like to say a heartfelt thank you to all the boys for embracing the spirit of the day and making it such a joyful, memorable celebration of sport and community. Sports Day is a fantastic reminder that our core values of kindness, spirit and responsibility bring us together and underpin everything that we do at More House. Our thanks also go to Mr Procter and the entire PE team for all their hard work in the run up and on the day, and to the wider school community of staff, Sixth Formers, families, and everyone who helped make Sports Day 2025 a success.
