More House Sixth Form is a busy and exciting place to study and learn. With around 60 students currently on roll, it offers 20 subjects at Level 3, a mixture of A-Levels and BTEC Subsidiary Diplomas, as well as GCSE retake classes in English and Maths. Small class sizes, additional support and a structured environment combine with a philosophy that challenges and extends students. Emphasis is placed on life-skills and study skills, fusing academic development with personal growth to create confident, resourceful young men who are ready to face the many challenges ahead.
In the Lower Sixth, we seek to bridge the gap between the typically teacher-led pre-GCSE curriculum and the more student-driven A-Level/BTEC courses, helping each individual through a bespoke approach to their differing needs. With an experienced team of tutors, mentors, language therapists, a careers advisor and a counsellor, not to mention the expertise of the teachers themselves, students are guided through their subject choices and their approach to learning to ensure a successful, confidence-building year.
In the Upper Sixth, students are more aware of the structure and nature of the courses as well as their own strengths and shortcomings. Nevertheless, a full programme of support remains in place for those who need it, alongside close contact with parents and boarding staff. During the Autumn Term they are also helped to complete their UCAS applications if continuing to University, or with college, apprenticeship or employment applications.
