Sixth Form students from More House School, Frensham, deliver a helping hand and something extra to support Farnham Food Bank in the run up to Christmas.

Back in September More House School undertook their annual Sponsored Walk, now in its 13th year, it sees the whole school community embark upon a 10 mile walk of the Frensham area and to date the event has raised in excess of £100,000. Every year students vote on which national and local charity they wish the funds to be donated to. The unanimous vote this year was for national charity, Young Minds and local Charity, Farnham Foodbank to benefit.

Students, Henry, Harry, Gareth and Lewis spent the morning with staff at Farnham Foodbank, learning about the extraordinary work being done and the increased need in the local community. Mel Cracknell, Warehouse Manager, explained where the food is donated from, how it is processed and how people access the service; before getting them to sort newly received donations.

Students then presented Rose Wilkinson, Project Manager, a cheque for £2000 who said “we don't think that anyone in our community should face going hungry but we can only provide the service that we do by relying on the generosity of local individuals or fundraising groups. We are extremely grateful to More House school and their families for such a wonderful donation. Raising funds to cover operational costs is our biggest challenge”.
