Year Eleven Results

(Early briefing, GCSE only – still awaiting national release of BTec results)

GCSE results released on Thursday, 20th August 2020, have been celebrated by our students, all of whom have worked to overcome the challenges of Dyslexia, Developmental Language Disorders, or associated special educational needs.

“We are delighted, and immensely proud that our Year Eleven students have done so well, in spite of the enormous challenges posed by this extraordinary year.  Congratulations to our pupils and their families who have offered such strong support of the boys and of the school.  And congratulations to the inspirational and highly skilled work of the school’s teaching and other staff.” – Jonathan Hetherington, Headmaster

Again this year, More House students beat national averages, despite their special educational needs and nearly half of candidates possessing an Education, Health and Care Plan.

88% of GCSE grades awarded were passes at grades 9-4 (beating 76% nationally).

29% of grades awarded to More House pupils were the highest 9-7 (A*-A) grades (beating 25.9% nationally).

73% of candidates achieved a 9-4 pass in GCSE English (beating 71.2% nationally)

74% of candidates achieved a 9-4 pass in GCSE Mathematics (beating 66.6% nationally)

More House candidates achieved 100% A*-B grades in Design…Engineer…Construct! – the GCSE-equivalent innovative architectural design course.

The school achieved 100% 9-4 grades in English Literature, Biology, Computer Science, Design & Technology, Drama, Music, Religious Studies and Sociology.

The last-minute decision by the BTec awarding body, Pearson, to review all BTec grades nationally means that many of More House’s Year Elevens join this year’s Upper Sixth in waiting for their BTec results to be confirmed and published.  However, More House is expecting extremely strong BTec results when they are released.

The majority of More House’s Year Elevens will enter the school’s Sixth Form this September to commence A Level and BTec courses in a wide breadth of subject disciplines.
