ISA SENCO Training

This event will take place between 10:00am and 3:15pm on 15/10/2019

Book you place here

Suitable for: Anyone who is responsible for SEND provision in an independent school

The importance of the SENCO in the education of the increasing number of SEND students in our schools cannot be over-emphasised, but, additionally, since parents of SEND children have been shown to be more willing to invest in independent education, then the work of the learning support department is vital to the economic well being of the school.

Course Aims:

This course is designed to re-appraise the role of the SENCO, to find different ways of working which also support the subtle changes needed to support a changing curriculum.

Delegates will be helped to appraise specific needs, develop best provision, share ideas and galvanise their teaching colleagues to work with them subject by subject to ensure a whole school approach. This flexible course is suitable for experienced practitioners and those who have only recently joined the special needs workforce.

Delegates will have the opportunity of seeing the More House Learning Development Centre in action, if they so wish. More House has 460 students aged 8 to 18 all having some form of SEND and has developed its own methodology to give provision across the curriculum as well as in specialised group sessions.

Course tutor: Barry Huggett OBE and Meriel Davenport
