More House School

Learning Development Centre

The Learning Development Centre is a purpose-built area, housed centrally in the school, where all direct therapy and specialist tuition is delivered by fully qualified therapists and specialist tutors, supported by experienced therapy assistants.  Therapeutic provision is holistic and integrated throughout the school.

Almost all boys in the school attend lessons weekly, with support continuing through GCSE and A level years where necessary. Many boys have previously had negative experiences by being removed from class in order to attend support lessons, but at More House attendance in the LDC forms part of each boy's timetable, removing any need to be singled out or to miss lessons.

More House provides a large Speech & Language Therapy and Occupational Therapy department of qualified therapists supported by experienced therapy assistants.  This provision is complemented by a large team of qualified specialist literacy and numeracy tutors.

An outstanding multi-therapeutic approach is central to the education pupils receive. Therapists, such as occupational therapists, a cognitive behaviour therapist and speech and language therapists, work in close partnership with teaching and boarding staff to ensure that pupils receive seamless support. Pupils are highly appreciative of the therapeutic services they receive and how these help them in their lives.
