Sixth Form Curriculum

The broad (and ever-changing) needs of our sixth form cohort means that we continually review our curriculum offer. The attached document gives you a reliable snapshot of our typical suite of subjects, but you should be aware that we look continually for ways to refine and improve what we provide for our students.

You should also be aware that, being a small Sixth Form provider, we are not always able to support some subject combinations. Though we try our utmost to accommodate the needs and wishes of all our students, providing for over 200 different subject combinations, there are occasions when timetable clashes are simply irreconcilable.

Having taken into account the subject choices your son indicated earlier in the year, I would like to share with you the timetable blocking that has been developed taking these choices into consideration. Whilst there remains some scope for further refinement (which will take place once GCSE results are published and pupils confirm their choices), this blocking represents a solution that appears to bring most benefit to most pupils.

We are continuing to work on our 'Foundation Year' programme (Level 2 qualifications and GCSE resit classes in English and Maths): final refinements to this will of course be dependent on the summer's examination results and therefore will not be released until the start of the new academic year.

Please take some time with your son to look over the options blocks, and do not hesitate to get in touch with me if you have any concerns. It would also be useful to know if your son's plans for next year have substantially changed - for example, if he no longer intends to join us.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this email and may I  wish your son every success in the weeks to come.
